Victoria Vida: Your New S.T.E.A.M. Best Friend and Actress Extraordinaire
Are you ready to start changing the world? Meet Victoria Vida- acclaimed Netflix actress making her way into history as, you guessed it, one of the kindest people you will ever meet! Co-Star of the Netflix original television show Project MC^2, Miss Vida plays culinary chemist extraordinaire Adrienne Atoms as she and her fellow S.T.E.A.M. teammates take on an evil organization and save the world. While Victoria is already a kind, smart, and pretty brilliant actress, we here at The Collins-Miller Project can assure you that she just as amazing in real life as she is on stage. Always looking to make everyone smile, she is on a mission to change the world for the better, and ensure that our future is filled with kindness, peace, and love world wide. Using Project MC^2’s “Smart is the new cool” tagline, Vida has moved to stop discouraging intelligence in girls (and boys!) because of its apparent social connotations. Who says nerd has to be a bad name? Victoria has also played a large role in the fight against bullying, as seen in her music video Shining Star, and works to promote equality for all walks of life. Vida this past month was kind enough to write us a quick introduction, discussing the importance of encouraging the girls and boys of tomorrow to stay #prettybrilliant. Take a look at it below!
“First, I would like to thank Madeleine, the Collins-Miller Project, and The New-Age Girl’s Club for the opportunity to write this article. It is an honor for me to participate in a newsletter created by such inspiring girls!
The world is full of opportunities, and I really believe it’s time we girls understand how important, strong and smart we are, and start playing a bigger roll in STEM. I don’t, by any means intend to diminish the importance of men, I just want to do my part to empower girls, and help them understand that we ARE very powerful and together we can make this world a better place. I see that many young girls dream of being a model, an actress, a singer, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but we are NOT limited to these professions, and that’s what I love about “Project Mc2.” It shows girls that we can excel in any male-dominant fields, such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, you name it! We can have high-powered jobs, design new spaceships, or even create new alternative energy sources like the Collins-Miller project is doing. As Madeleine says, “Kids are never too young to change the world. Telling yourself you can’t do it is only an opportunity for failure. There shouldn’t be anything that can stop you.”
Supporting girls to play a bigger role in STEM is very important for our future. Women in STEM jobs earn 33 percent more than those in non-STEM occupations, and experience a smaller wage gap relative to men. Besides, our unique feminine touch can make a huge difference in any project!! Remember, you can be Smart and Funny, Smart and Stylish; Smart is definitely the New Cool. In my opinion, Smart has ALWAYS been COOL!!! ☺”
